B.C. Launches its First Anti-Racism Action Plan
On June 1, 2026, B.C. launched its first-ever Provincial Anti-Racism Action Plan (2026–2028). Filipino BC was grateful to be invited to witness this milestone alongside community partners and government representatives.
Our connection to this plan goes back further than today. Earlier this year, Filipino BC carried out community engagement sessions, gathering the voices and lived experiences of our kapwa and bringing them forward to inform this work. Listening first, and making sure our community was heard.
The plan's 37 actions aim to address racism affecting Indigenous and racialized communities across the province. Some of them reflect realities we witness in our own community every day — protections for temporary foreign workers and caregivers, fairer recognition of international credentials for internationally-trained professionals, and stronger support for precarious workers. But we celebrate every one of these actions, because anti-racism work only matters when it lifts all of us. When one community rises, we all rise.
That's the spirit of bayanihan, and it's at the heart of who we are: By Filipinos, for everyone.
A plan is only a starting point. What comes next is what counts, and Filipino BC will keep showing up, on the ground and at the table, so that this work is built together, with community at its centre.
Maraming salamat to everyone who shared their voice and helped make this possible.
