Filipinos have a stronger-than-average sense of belonging to Canada… Yet remains one of the most underserved communities.

💬 What’s your story? ➡️ How do you feel connected to Canada, and where do you think the Filipino community still needs more support? 💬
Filipinos in BC report some of the highest levels of belonging among immigrant communities — we proudly call this province home and contribute to its cultural and economic fabric. Yet, this sense of belonging hasn’t been matched with structural support or funding.
Our community still lacks a permanent Filipino Community and Cultural Centre — a space to gather, celebrate, grieve, organize, and access essential services. The lack of dedicated resources was especially evident following the tragic events on April 26, where victims and families continue to face significant barriers in accessing care and recovery supports.
Filipino BC is calling on all levels of government to urgently commit funding in their 2026 budgets to support those impacted and to invest in long-term, culturally relevant infrastructure and programs that uplift our community.
We serve so many, yet remain among the most underserved. We belong deeply to this province and country— it’s time that belonging is reflected in the support and care we receive.
