The Federal Government of Canada has Committed to Building a Filipino Cultural Centre in BC

APRIL 16, 2024

The Federal Government of Canada released the 2024 Budget on April 16th. In a celebration of Canada's rich cultural tapestry, marked by its history and storytelling traditions, the federal government pledges to foster understanding and knowledge exchange, preserving our past while nurturing the future of our remarkable diversity.

In addition to the $11 million allocated to support various cultural communities, the federal government is dedicated to becoming a funding partner for a new cultural centre in British Columbia. Specifically, they will contribute to the establishment of "a new Filipino cultural centre, providing a dedicated space for the Filipino community to gather and celebrate its culture and heritage."

We are thrilled for the Filipino community and all who will benefit from this cultural space in British Columbia. We extend our gratitude to the federal government for their commitment to supporting the Filipino community.
