Community Update | May 18, 2025
The Kapwa Centre for Community Resilience will be open for the Victoria Day holiday tomorrow, Monday, May 19, from 5 PM to 8 PM.
The Kapwa Centre has moved to its new location at Christ City Church South Vancouver, at 5887 Prince Edward St. We hope the community finds this new location to be more accessible, especially for those who have been visiting the memorial around John Oliver Secondary school, which is just a block away. Feel free to stop by for a warm meal, and to access the services of social workers, counsellors, faith-based staff and other supports.
We’re also welcoming the public to Magkasama, a night of culture, resilience, and community at Fortune Sound Club on Monday, May 19. The night includes a showcase of Filipino artists, dancers, DJs and art installations, in support of the KAPWA STRONG Fund. For tickets, visit Fortune Sound Club .
Some people may choose quiet healing gatherings made for reflection, others prefer a loud cry of culture and resistance. Either way, please know that Filipino BC is grateful to all the event organizers who are making space for those affected by the tragic event that occurred on April 26.
We’ll have a more fulsome update after the long weekend.
Ingat. Take care.
