The Conservatives Party of BC Commit $15 Million to Build the Filipino Cultural Centre

OCTOBER 7, 2026

On September 23, 2026, we wrote to all provincial parties asking them to make a clear commitment to fund and advance the Filipino Community & Cultural Centre.

Today, the BC Conservatives announced a $15 million commitment toward the construction of the Filipino Cultural Centre, which they say would unlock an additional $15 million in federal matching funds, for $30 million in total investment.

The Centre has been years in the making, shaped by the needs and vision of our community. We’re sharing the Conservatives’ letter so you can read their commitment and learn more about what they’ve proposed.

Conservatives Commit $15 Million to Build the Filipino Cultural Centre

A Conservative government will help build a permanent home for British Columbia's Filipino community to gather, celebrate and share its culture.

Conservative Party of BC Leader Lorne Doerkson announced today that a Conservative government will commit $15 million toward the construction of the Filipino Cultural Centre in Vancouver.

The provincial commitment will unlock $15 million in federal matching funds, bringing $30 million in total investment to give British Columbia's Filipino community a permanent place to gather, celebrate its heritage and pass its traditions on to the next generation.

"We owe Filipino British Columbians so much. They've cared for our patients, kept our businesses running and strengthened every community they call home," said Doerkson. "Every community in British Columbia deserves a place to come together and celebrate who they are. A Conservative government will make sure the Filipino community finally has one."

British Columbia is home to one of the largest Filipino communities in Canada. For years, community leaders have called for a dedicated centre where families, seniors and young people can come together for cultural events, celebrations and community programs.

The Filipino Cultural Centre will be a safe and welcoming space for all of that, and a lasting landmark in the heart of Vancouver.

We’re grateful to the BC Conservatives for making this commitment toward the Filipino Cultural Centre and for recognizing the significant contributions and impact of the Filipino community, as well as the importance of having a permanent home for our community. This project has been more than three years in the making, shaped by the voices, work, advocacy, and support of so many people across our community.

As we hear from the other provincial parties in response to our September 23 letter, we’ll keep you updated on their commitments and what they are proposing for the Centre. Thank you to everyone who has continued to believe in this vision, speak up for it, and help move it forward — we’re building this together.
