Moving into a new environment can be stressful for anyone, and moving inside from an experience of homelessness can also be stressful. We work to get to know each person and focus on strengthening connections and building community. We strive to offer people choice, both in terms of housing and supports. First we listen, then learn, so we can continuously adapt our housing and supports, either by expanding current approaches to new communities or developing new ways of working.     Description: YWCA Safe Haven is a free program that supports refugee claimants and asylum seekers to find immediate accommodation in BC. We work with vulnerable newcomers to BC who are not eligible for federal settlement programs, but need support finding accommodation to rebuild safe, nurturing and supportive lives for themselves and their families. Our program is in partnership with DiverseCity, and offers the Housing Search component of the SAFE HAVEN program in Surrey and North Delta.
